I miss the 90s

As I was going through my Google reader, one of the bloggers posted this article about why boy bands were better in the 90s. I totally agree with it since One Direction will never be BSB or *NSYNC or 98 Degrees. However, I was total Spice Girl's fan lol. Here are some flashbacks to my favorites.

"Let it go
If you want me girl, let me know
I am down, on my knees
I can't take it anymore"
- Tearin' up my heart

"I can't let you see what you mean to me
When my hands are tied and my heart's not free
We're not meant to be"
- Hardest Thing

"Tell me why
Ain't nothin' but a heartache
Tell me why
Ain't nothin' but a mistake
Tell me why
I never wanna hear you say
I want it that way"
- I want it that way

"Mmmbop, ba duba dop
Ba du bop, ba duba dop
Ba du bop, ba duba dop
Ba du
Yeah
Mmmbop, ba duba dop
Ba du bop, Ba du dop
Ba du bop, Ba du dop
Ba du
Yeah"
-Mmmbop

"The right stuff
The right stuff
First time was a great time
Second time was a blast
Third time I fell in love
Now I hope it lasts"
-You Got It (The Right Stuff)

I have to say, my childhood was pretty awesome. Reminds me of my friends and I making up dances, celebrity crushes, and MTV actually playing music videos (or in my case Much Music).

This was a little before boy bands but I look pretty awesome in my star cap.

The roof is one fire...

I've realized life had been non-stop since I came home from vacation back in January. There is always something at work, stuff going on with my friends, and being sick on and off. But, everything was put in perspective last Monday/Tuesday night.

At 3:00 am my house received a phone call and a loud knock on the door. I thought we were being robbed so in my half awake fashion, I started pressing buttons trying to unlock my iPhone (there is an emergency button for a reason). However, I heard my mom yell get Char (why would my mom let the robbers know I was in the house). My dad ran downstairs and told me the house was on fire. I grabbed my laptop and my jacket and a coat (my dad reminded me I needed shoes). Then wnet upstairs to where a policeman told me the neighbor's house was on fire and we being evacuated as a safety precaution. I regain my sanity and grabbed my purse and car keys. My dad was taking forever grabbing his laptop and getting his work stuff together.

We went out through the garage. There were embers flying all over the place. The wind was so strong that the water from the hoses felt like rain. My family and I were led to an ambulance where our neighbor was safely waiting. We stayed there for 15 minutes before being placed in a lobby of a retirement home. There we watched TV and the red cross came to help my neighbor. Awhile laster fireman came and told my family that we could go back home. We made the walk back home since our street closed off.

It was still freezing but our house was safe. My mom made breakfast since we knew there was no way we were going back to bed. The fire made the news and my mom was interviewed.

This event just reminded me of the question game you play. I've been ask before if I had to choose three things to take out of my burning house what would I grab. I've always said my laptop since most of my pictures are on there. I have some jewelry that has is valuable because of who it came from. I would be devastated if my teachers license or college diploma was misplaced. All my stuff ran through my mind and I realized how much of it is replaceable. All that mattered was my parents and I were safe and we made it out with no scrapes or scratches.

The aftermath...

FAIL!

Due to an unforeseeable circumstance, my training failed.

My family experienced a tragic lost on March 13, 2012. My Uncle Joe lost his fourteen year battle with cancer. Not going to lie, it sucks and is totally unfair. Yeah I probably sound stupid but hey I have a right to be mad. Good things happen to bad people. However, it made realize how lucky I am for my health and my family.

Love you Uncle Joe!!!

As for my 5k, I didn't do as well I wanted, but I have to go into it remembering that I won't be as good as last season. I did it in 31 minutes.

But I had fun and ran into Jen and her mom while I finished :)

How to train for a 5K in one week

I lost a week of training after being sick. When I went to the gym this week, I took it very easy since sometimes I have cough attacks. I have an inhaler but I don't like having to depend on using it.

I have a 5k on Saturday that I did last year. I know the course and I'm not too worried about it. It's flat but I still wanna do well.

So here is my training schedule.
Monday: Run two miles
Tuesday: Run one mile
Wednesday: Run two miles
Thursday: Run three miles
Friday: Bike

I'll be doing weights and abs, but taking it easy on the legs.

Here is to a week of training!

Its a beautiful day, don't let it get away

Today it finally started feeling like spring! With that being said, most of the day was spent outside enjoying the fun weather. My kids sure did love it! We stayed out for most of the morning and then after nap we ate snack outside.

During my lunch break I met up with Jennifer to eat and walk her dog Bagel. As usual, it was a good time. However, we had to rush so I could get back to work (I ended up being late...opps!)

Bad iPhone pictures, but still worth posting!

Bronchitis Workout

As a teacher, I get sick all the time. I've probably made enough posts about it to make me as well whoever reads this want to pull their hair out. But this time it was bad enough I went to the doctors. I thought I had an ear infection but there was too much fluid to tell, but it lead to bronchitis. I'm on all these fun cold meds which make me loopy and out of it.

But today I thought I might as well get my ass up and do something. Like any normal sick person, I went to the gym. I haven't gone all week so why not try this week. I just did the bike and lifted. I brought a book and uploaded a bunch of new music to pump me up. No abs today though, since most of the workouts involve me being on my back, and I would have probably coughed up a lung.

Tomorrow is the last day of my antibiotic and hopefully I'll be getting some more sleep!

Work Out Playlist Part 2

Over the summer I posted my current workout jams. Well here is part two for you all!

Turn Me On- David Guetta feat. Nicki Minaj. This song has a good beat that I can jam as well as pace myself to. It's also a catchy song!

Rack City Chick- Tyga. This song reminds me of Miami and driving through South Beach on New Years. Makes for good lifting and a good beat to pace myself.

Glad You Came- Glee Cast. Once I saw this song performed on Glee I was in awe! I had to have so I went onto iTunes and downloaded it. Probably one of my favorite covers they have done this season.

Domino- Jessie J. I actually really like singing to this song but it is a good running song. Gets me pumped up everytime!

Lights- Ellie Goulding Bassnectar Remix. This one has been on my iTunes wish list for a minute and I Finally got around to downloading it.

Monster- Kanye West feat. Nicki Minaj, Jay-Z, Rick Ross, and Bon Iver. This song is kind of long but the beat keeps me going. It gets me ready to run every time.
